Sandstone Camp

Join us at our exclusive Sandstone Camp

You and your group will have sole use of the picturesque Sandstone Camp, our beautiful safari lodge nestled amongst giant baobabs and boulders at the foot of magnificent sandstone cliffs.

“We’re home now and wanted to thank you for such a stunning weekend and being such wonderful hosts.  We felt so privileged to have seen so much of Sentinel – a hidden gem.  What a special place you have there! Thank you, thank you! Love to you and Digby, and course, to Tarquin, Adam and Touran!” – MT

The stone-and-thatch lodge is barely perceptible in the landscape, blending into the beautiful red rockface behind.

The open-fronted dining room, living room and fire-pit overlook a sprawling plain and not-too-distant waterhole. Elephants, kudu and other animals come frequently to drink and you may even catch sight of a lone leopard padding by in the morning light.

Drinks around the campfire at night afford one of the best views of the Milky Way found in the southern hemisphere. Fall asleep to leopard lullabies and howling hyenas. This is nature immersion at its best.

Room cleaning and laundry are done daily and each of our four stone-and-thatch chalets (one double, three twin) have ceiling fans, ensuite bathrooms and hot and cold running water. Simple, comfortable, and very private.

“Darling Digby and Vanessa – Thank you or hosting us and our special friends. Oh my goodness how lovely to be on Sentinel again and for too short a time, but at least, a few days! It is truly an amazing place! Lots of love!” – FT

Situated at 500-600m above sea level in the southwestern lowveld of Zimbabwe, our region is marked by hot (though sometimes very wet!), summers, and sunny winter days with cool nights.

Our average rainfall is 300mm per annum, but we are subject to summer cyclones from the Mozambique Channel. During the wet season self-drive guests are recommended to come in 4WD vehicles, as access from Beitbridge is on dirt roads and can be unpredictable.

In summer there is a large swimming pool at the homestead that guests are welcome to enjoy. Natural rock pools, springs and streams also offer fabulous wild swimming opportunities – all crocodile free, of course!
